Anthony Joshua Could Be Traumatised to Fight After Tragic Crash
JAKARTA - Former two-time unified heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua (AJ) may have lost his appetite to return to the ring after being involved in a tragic accident that claimed the lives of two of his colleagues earlier this week.
Prominent boxing promoter Frank Warren said the accident had clearly left Joshua traumatised so the decision to return to the ring was now a question mark for everyone.
"This is a very difficult time for all parties involved. Hopefully Anthony Joshua is in good physical condition after going through this."
"But mentally it's another matter. I don't even know if he still has the desire to fight again or if he will fight again, that's something only time can answer," Warren told ITV News, quoted by the Daily Mail.
Joshua, 36, was a passenger in the back seat of a black Lexus car that crashed into a truck that was stopped on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Makun, Nigeria.
The tragic accident claimed the lives of Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele - who were close friends and important members of Anthony Joshua's coaching team on his career journey so far.
Joshua is so far reported to be in stable condition, but it is not known how severe the injury he suffered in an accident with a speed exceeding the limit of 50 kilometers per hour.
He was involved in an accident in the middle of a big plan for 2026, including the intention to fight Tyson Fury who is a client of Warren. The duel has been awaited by many boxing fans.
Joshua has just made a comeback after a year of absence by defeating Jake Paul in the middle of this month in Miami, USA. He won a KO in the duel, but it was considered a very lopsided match in boxing history.
