President Plans to Spend New Year's Eve at Disaster Site

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto plans to visit the flood and landslide disaster sites in Aceh or Sumatra again before the New Year 2026.

The Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed the President's visit plan, when answering a journalist's question after attending a post-disaster recovery and strategic plan press conference at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta.

"It is planned that way," said Prasetyo as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 29.

When confirmed again about the plan to spend New Year's Eve at the disaster site, Prasetyo answered briefly.

"That's the plan," Pras said.

Previously, when leading the plenary Cabinet Meeting two weeks ago, President Prabowo Subianto revealed his plan to visit directly the areas affected by flash floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra at least once a week.

"I plan to see the area at least once a week to monitor developments," said President Prabowo.

Handling the impact of disasters in Sumatra is the earliest issue discussed by President Prabowo in the Cabinet Meeting this afternoon.

The President said that he had seen the disaster-affected areas directly and led a direct coordination meeting to handle the impact in the area.

"I've been there several times, to Aceh I've been three times, to North Sumatra twice, to West Sumatra only once," said the President.

On the same occasion, the President also stated that the government would continue to work hard to restore conditions in disaster-affected areas, and the President hopes that rehabilitation will begin immediately.
