Follow the footsteps of BYD, Changan officially exports Thai-made electric cars to Europe

Changan Automobile is following in the footsteps of BYD by starting to export vehicles from its factory in Thailand, which is shared on the official Weibo page.

CNevpost, Sunday, December 28, Changan stated that its factory in Rayong, Thailand, had shipped the first batch of locally produced Deepal S05 models to Europe.

The total initial shipment consists of 500 units of the Deepal S05 model, unfortunately the manufacturer did not specify in detail the country to which it was headed, but this step is a milestone for the Chinese manufacturer.

This also shows that along with the many Chinese car manufacturers setting up factories in Thailand, this Southeast Asian country is emerging as a major export center for them.

Previously, in August, BYD's subsidiary in Thailand announced that its factory had produced and shipped the first batch of BYD Dolphin electric vehicles to Europe. There are 900 units of BYD electric vehicles that were sent to various destinations including the UK, Germany, and Belgium.

Back to Changan, this Chinese brand has a factory in Rayong, Thailand. The annual production capacity was initially 100,000 units, which is planned to be gradually expanded to 200,000 units.

Changan in Indonesia

Changan is already present in Indonesia by bringing two models at once, namely Deepal S07 and Lumin. Changan's entry into Indonesia is through a partnership with the Indomobil Group.

In the future, Changan's local production plan in Indonesia is expected to strengthen technology transfer, open up employment opportunities, and build a more solid national automotive supply chain.
