Suparman Nyompa, Judge Who 'Freeed' Rizieq Shihab From Prison, Establishes Free Islamic Boarding School In South Sulawesi
JAKARTA - The defendant Rizieq Shihab was sentenced to a fine of Rp. 20 million, subsidiary to 5 months in prison for alleged violations of the health protocol (prokes) in Megamendung. This verdict is lighter than the demands of the public prosecutor (JPU).
Chief judge Suparman Nyompa will lead the reading of the verdict at the trial held at the East Jakarta District Court, Thursday, May 27.
"Imposing a fine of Rp. 20 million on the condition that if you cannot pay, you will be compensated for 5 months," said Suparman Nyompa.
There are 2 considerations in the verdict, namely burdensome and mitigating. It is burdensome, Rizieq is considered not supporting government programs to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Meanwhile, as a relief, Rizieq is considered to be occupying his promise to ask his supporters not to come to trial.
Rizieq, said Suparman Nyompa, is also considered a religious figure so that he can become an example for the community. This consideration is clearly the pros and cons in the public.
