Surabaya City Government Holds Elderly Vaccination Ceremony

SURABAYA - To coincide with the commemoration of National Elderly Day (HLUN) in 2021, the Surabaya City Government will hold the Elderly Vaccine Festival (GVL). This activity aims to encourage an increase in the coverage of COVID-19 vaccination in the City of Heroes.

Head of the Surabaya Health Service (Dinkes), Febria Rachmanita, said that the GVL was carried out simultaneously in all health facilities from May 17 to May 29. In addition, Febria ensured that the vaccination for the elderly had been prepared at various points. This is done so that the elderly can choose whichever location is closer to their home.

Starting from the health center, hospital, RW hall, village office, sub-district office, and other places that have been determined by the three pillars. "Then we also do door to door to residents' homes. We also prepare other predetermined vaccine centers, such as malls," said Febria, in Surabaya, Thursday, May 27.

Febria said, apart from vaccination, the Health Office also conducts health screening checks for the elderly in accordance with the minimum service standards for the elderly. Interestingly, the examination was not only for Surabaya KTP residents.

"But non-Surabaya residents are required to bring a domicile certificate in Surabaya. They can ask the RW. Then after pocketing the letter, they can go directly to the puskesmas. The deadline is May 29," he said.

Not only that, Febria detailed based on data as of yesterday, May 26, 2021, the number of elderly people who had been injected with the Covid-19 vaccine, was 389,789 people. Meanwhile, the total number of residents who have received the vaccine has reached 1,065,961 people. Of that figure, consists of Health Human Resources (HRK), the elderly and public services.

He hopes that people who have not vaccinated, especially the elderly, do not need to worry. This is because vaccines are carried out so that people have immunity and antibodies. Finally, Feny also asked some residents to get the COVID-19 health protocol vaccine (prokes). "Keep wearing a mask, wash your hands, keep your distance. Don't forget to maintain immunity," he said.
