Two Major Churches in Kelapa Gading Begin to Be Checked Ahead of Christmas 2025
JAKARTA - The North Jakarta Metro Police has started checking a number of churches in the Kelapa Gading area, North Jakarta ahead of the 2025 Christmas celebration.
The check was carried out since Saturday, December 20, 2025, by visiting two churches with the largest congregation, namely the GBI Mawar Saron Church and the St. Andreas Kim Tae Gon Church.
Both churches are places of worship with a large number of parishioners during Christmas celebrations. At the GBI Mawar Saron Church, the North Jakarta Metro Police directly reviewed the area inside and around the church.
The Police Chief urged church administrators to conduct intensive checks on congregants before entering the worship area and actively coordinating with the police.
"The check is carried out to ensure that the Christmas worship can take place safely, orderly, and conducive," said North Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Erick Frendriz when confirmed, Sunday, December 21, 2025.
The inspection then continued to St. Andreas Church Kim Tae Gon.
"We urge that security be carried out together and if there is a potential for security disturbances, immediately report to the police," he said.
According to the Police Chief, the presence of the police was aimed at ensuring the readiness of all aspects of security, including parking arrangements and congregation comfort.
"Coordination with parking managers and community elements must still pay attention to the comfort of the congregation," he said.
The Police Chief explained that checking this church is a guarantee of freedom of religion for the people of God in carrying out worship during the Christmas and New Year momentum.
"We want to ensure that the Christmas and New Year's Eve services run safely and smoothly," he said.
