BI Soroti Lambatnya Penurunan Suku Bunga Kredit Meski BI-Rate Turun Signifikan

Bank Indonesia assesses that the decline in bank credit interest rates tends to be slower so that the effectiveness of the transmission of monetary policy easing needs to continue to be encouraged.

"The decline in bank credit interest rates tends to be slower and therefore needs to continue to be encouraged, because the decline in bank credit interest rates is only 24 bps from 9.20 percent at the beginning of 2025 to 8.96 percent in November 2025," said BI Governor Perry Warjiyo in a press conference, Wednesday, December 17.

In the future, he said, a more effective interest rate transmission is expected to encourage credit demand so that the distribution of banking credit will be higher to support sustainable economic growth.

Perry said the transmission of the BI-Rate reduction to bank interest rates continued, especially on fund interest rates.

Meanwhile, the 1-month deposit interest rate decreased by 67 bps from 4.81 percent at the beginning of 2025 to 4.14 percent in November 2025.

Perry said that the easing of monetary policy that had been taken by Bank Indonesia and the placement of the Government's Budget Surplus (SAL) funds in the banking sector needed to be followed by a faster reduction in bank interest rates.

He explained that along with the reduction in the BI-Rate by 125 bps during 2025 and the expansion of Bank Indonesia's monetary liquidity, the INDONIA interest rate fell by 191 bps from 6.03 percent at the beginning of 2025 to 4.12 percent on December 16, 2025.

The SRBI interest rates for 6, 9, and 12 months also decreased by 226 bps, 226 bps, and 228 bps since the beginning of January 2025 to 4.90 percent; 4.94 percent; and 4.98 percent on December 12, 2025.

Meanwhile, the yield of SBN for a 2-year tenor decreased by 199 bps from 6.96 percent at the beginning of 2025 to 4.97 percent on December 16, 2025, while for a 10-year tenor decreased by 110 bps from the highest level of 7.26 percent in mid-January 2025 to 6.16 percent.
