The Government of Wacanakan Will Give Rp10 Thousand Per Day for Each Victim of the Sumatra Disaster

JAKARTA - Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) revealed that the government is discussing to provide a living guarantee (jadup) of Rp. 10 thousand per day for each person who is a victim of flooding and landslides in Sumatra.

In handling disasters in the rehabilitation and reconstruction stages, the government will build temporary housing (huntara) and permanent housing (huntap) for disaster victims in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

After the residents affected by the disaster occupy the residence, the jadup fund will begin to be disbursed. The distribution of funds every day will last for three months.

"After there is a huntara or huntap, there is a jadup or guarantee for a temporary life for 3 months, where each individual receives Rp10,000 per day. If a family has five (people), yes, it can get Rp10 thousand times five," said Gus Ipul after a ministerial level meeting at the Office of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, December 17.

However, Gus Ipul admitted that the nominal amount of this fund still refers to the calculation of basic needs in 2020. The government is still considering whether the value of the assistance is still relevant to the current conditions.

"Well, we just reported to the Coordinating Minister, whether this Rp10,000 index still meets today's standards or needs to be improved. Of course, we will ask for further instructions," he said.

In addition to jadup, disaster victims will also receive assistance for household equipment after occupying huntara or huntap. The value of the assistance is also still using the old index.

"After getting the schedule, when they are hunted or hunted, they will also get help to complete the contents of the house, such as kitchen utensils, and also maybe chairs, tables, and so on for Rp. 3 million. Of course, later we will ask for directions from the Coordinating Minister," he explained.

Then, the Ministry of Social Affairs also distributed compensation for victims who died and were seriously injured due to the disaster. The deceased victim will receive a compensation of Rp. 15 million which will be handed over to the heirs. Then, a compensation of Rp. 5 million to the victim of serious injury.

On the other hand, the government has also prepared initial support for the economic recovery of affected citizens. The assistance was handed over to each family. "We also provide empowerment support for economic recovery in the first phase, namely an index of Rp5 million," he said.
