Not Yet Half A Year Established, BSI Becomes One Of Forbes' Best World Bank
JAKARTA - PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) has achieved brilliant achievements by being named as one of the best banks in the world or The World's Best Banks 2021 by Forbes.
President Director of BSI Hery Gunardi stated that this prestigious recognition was a motivation for BSI to continue to strive to produce brilliant performance and encourage economic development in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"It is a motivation to improve services to customers and the wider community and to encourage the development of the Islamic economy for the welfare of the people in the future," he said in an official statement received quoted from Antara, Thursday, May 27.
The embedding of The World's Best Banks refers to the results of a survey conducted on more than 43 thousand consumers representing 28 countries and five assessment criteria, namely trust, terms and conditions, customer services, digital services, and financial advice.
Hery stated that his party is committed to the benefit of the people by carrying out various sustainable finance agendas such as village economic programs, food security, sociopreneur scholarships, siding with MSMEs and playing an active role in encouraging national economic recovery.
He ensured that various BSI efforts would comply with President Joko Widodo's direction during the inauguration of BSI, namely to become an inclusive bank, advance the country's sharia economy and bring Indonesia to become the center of gravity for the sharia economy in the regional and global scope.
"This recognition from Forbes is a motivation for us to continue to work hard to make this happen," he said.
Previously, BSI recorded a net profit of IDR 742 billion in the first quarter of 2021, an increase of 12.85 percent compared to the same period in 2020 of IDR 657 billion. This increase in performance was driven by an increase in margin income and profit sharing by 5.16 percent (yoy).
The increase in company profits was also influenced by the expansion of financing and the optimal increase in low-cost funds, which pushed the cost of funds to be borne by the company to be better than last year.
Meanwhile, until the end of March 2021, the financing channeled by BSI had reached Rp. 159 trillion, an increase of 14.47 percent (yoy), followed by the maintenance of the quality of financing channeled by BSI.
In the first quarter of 2021, BSI's gross NPF ratio was in the range of 3.09 percent, down from the previous year's position of 3.25 percent.
