Alwi Farhan has no plans for a big bonus for the 2025 SEA Games
JAKARTA - The men's singles badminton player, Alwi Farhan, still has no plans for the big bonus he will receive after successfully winning the gold medal at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.
Alwi managed to get a gold medal in the men's singles and men's doubles from the biennial multi-branch sports event. For the individual number, the government promised a bonus of Rp. 1 billion.
The 2023 junior world champion said that the figure was never held by him before.
"I honestly haven't thought about it (what the money is for) because I've never held a lot of money, but I usually invest it in land, houses, and others. So, of course, for my future savings," he said.

Alwi got the gold medal from the men's singles sector after in the final round he defeated his compatriot Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah. Meanwhile, in the men's doubles, Alwi managed to contribute the first point to help Indonesia beat Malaysia in the final match.
The 20-year-old badminton player said that the results he got in Thailand were really beyond his expectations.
"However, as much as possible I have sacrificed myself to become a champion in these two events. I know what I have sacrificed will be answered at the right time," he said.
Overall, Indonesia managed to get three gold medals, three silver medals, and four bronze medals from the badminton sports. This result makes Indonesia get the overall champion status, maintaining the previous SEA Games achievement in 2023 in Cambodia.
In addition to being able to maintain the overall champion status, this achievement also exceeded the target set by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) which only asked for two golds.
