Inter Terminates Contract, Antonio Conte Gets Compensation Rp121,9 Billion

JAKARTA - Inter Milan on Thursday morning announced the termination of coach Antonio Conte's contract less than a week after they held a ceremony to lift the trophy as the Italian Serie A scudetto of the 2020/21 season.

"Inter Milan confirm that they have reached a mutual agreement with Antonio Conte for the termination of his contract," Inter's official website statement as reported by Antara.

"The club thanked Antonio for his outstanding work, which resulted in Inter's 19th league title. Antonio Conte will remain a part of our club's history," wrote the same statement.

Over the past few days, rumors of Conte's sacking have spread after he reportedly disagreed with Inter's plans to sell some of his top players due to financial problems.

The financial problems even forced Inter's owner, Suning Group, to strike a deal with American investor Oaktree Capital, which was prepared to disburse a 275 million euro loan.

According to reports on the Italian Football website, Inter will have to pay a compensation fee of seven million euros (approximately Rp121.9 billion) to Conte considering he still has a contract until June 2022.

Rumors in the English media suggest Conte is being approached by Tottenham Hotspur who last April sacked Jose Mourinho and hired Ryan Mason as interim coach until the end of the season.
