KPK Sends Donations Of IDR 110 Million In Food Forms To Medicines For Victims Of The Sumatra Disaster
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) sent donations for victims of floods and landslides in North Sumatra, West Sumatra, and Aceh today. They raised funds through the Korpri KPK Cares for Sumatra program.
"As a form of collective solidarity with disaster victims in North Sumatra and Aceh, the KPK KORPRI has taken the initiative to raise donations to ease the burden on our brothers and sisters," said KPK Secretary General and KPK Korpri Chair Cahya H. Harefa in a written statement, Friday, December 12.
Donations collected by employees reached Rp110 million and were then given in the form of ready-to-eat food, mineral water, proper clothes, pampers, boots, sanitation products, dates, and medicines.
This assistance was distributed directly by involving a team from the Korpri KPK and the Deputy for Coordination and Supervision (Korsup) in charge of providing assistance as well as supervision of local governance.
The team is said to have left for a number of disaster locations, such as in Langkat and Aceh Tamiang Regencies. They were greeted there by the local government.
Humanitarian assistance from the KPK has been distributed from the Social Service Post to 16 sub-districts affected by the flood. "The presence of the KPK in Langkat Regency is extraordinary for caring for the people of Langkat Regency," said Langkat Regent Syah Afandin.

Meanwhile, Aceh Regent Tamiang Armia Fahmi and his staff received the aid directly. The distribution will then be made to two refugee center villages, namely Tanjung Karang Village and Menanggini Village, Karang Baru District.
"Thank you profusely to the KPK. The refugee community is also grateful for the very meaningful assistance for them," said Armia.
The KPK KORPRI Representatives together with the KPK Korsup Team, consisting of Amir Arief, Taufik Martha, and Harun Hidayat. "With this donationraising, the KPK hopes that the donation will be useful in order to ease the burden on our brothers and sisters who were hit by the disaster," said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo in a written statement.
The KPK also invites all Indonesian people to continue praying for the condition of the region and the affected communities to recover soon.
