RI-US Continue Tariff Negotiations, Coordinating Minister Airlangga: Delegation Team Will Depart To Washington Next Week
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto ensured that negotiations related to trade rates between Indonesia and the United States (US) would continue.
He said the negotiating team would leave for Washington next week. "The team will depart next week, and will finalize according to the joint statement dated July 22. I will also depart," Airlangga told the media crew, Friday, December 12.
Airlangga added that he had recently communicated online with the United States Trade Representative (USTR), Ambassador Jameson Total.
In addition, both parties agreed to follow up and resolve the points agreed in a meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and US President Donald Trump on July 22.
"Last night I just made direct communication with USTR, ambassador Jamieson Total, regarding Indonesia's (reciprocal) tariff with America and we agreed to complete what the leader of the declaration agreed on July 22 and thus in a short time the Indonesian delegation will depart again to Washington," he explained.
Airlangga said that the results of this conversation had been reported to President Prabowo and hoped that negotiations could be completed by the end of 2025.
"Hopefully by the end of the year we can finish what we started, because Indonesia is the third country to make a deal with US and we will finish what we have achieved on July 22, and hopefully by 2025, the President asked us to solve this and of course put forward common interests for both countries, Indonesia and the United States," he said.
Airlangga added that the agreement regarding the reciprocal tariff will be continued immediately, namely that the Indonesian team will leave for Washington next week so that the agreement can be outlined in the draft agreement before the end of the year.

Jadi Amerika mengapresiasi Indonesia," jelasnya.

He also considered that the trade cooperation between Indonesia and the US was a positive example and received appreciation from the US, considering that Indonesia was one of the initial countries that agreed to the agreement.
"This is a very positive thing because Indonesia is a third country that has agreed with the United States. So America appreciates Indonesia," he explained.
