54 Indonesian Citizens From Shwe Kokko Departed To Thailand, Two Indonesian Embassy In Synergy Facilitate Repatriation To Indonesia
JAKARTA - The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) Yangon in Myanmar and the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok in Thailand have synergized the repatriation of dozens of Indonesian citizens (WNI) who were dispatched from Shwe Kokko to Mae Sot on Friday.
A total of 54 Indonesian citizens from Shwe Kokko, who were included in the second wave of repatriation, had been dispatched to Thailand on December 12 morning local time.
Dozens of Indonesian citizens were transferred from Myawaddy to Mae Sot by land, after obtaining a cross-border permit from the Thousand Pagoda State authorities and the White Elephant Country.
"While in Thailand, Indonesian citizens received full assistance from the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok, including facilitation of the immigration process, coordination of transportation, and arrangements for their departure to Indonesia," said the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon in his statement, Friday (12/12).
The Indonesian Embassy in Yangon continued, the Indonesian citizens will be flown to the country via Bangkok on December 13 in the morning local time.
Upon arrival at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, they will be accepted by relevant agencies in Indonesia, including BP2MI Banten, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other related institutions for the assessment process and further handling, said the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon.
As previously reported, more than 300 Indonesian citizens have been under the supervision of Myanmar authorities since law enforcement operations against online scam and online gaming centers began on October 22, 2025, including in the KK Park and Shw Kokko areas, Myawddy.
The Indonesian Embassy in Yangon previously succeeded in repatriating 56 Indonesian citizens in the first wave to arrive in the country on December 9.
"Repatriation is carried out in stages, adjusting security conditions in Myawaddy, readiness of travel documents, and crossing capacity in border areas," said the Indonesian Embassy.
"The Indonesian Embassy remains committed to providing maximum assistance so that all affected Indonesian citizens can return to Indonesia safely," said the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon.
The Indonesian Embassy emphasized its commitment to continue to facilitate the repatriation of hundreds of other Indonesian citizens who are currently still under the supervision of the Myanmar authorities in Kayin State due to online scam eradication operations by the Myanmar authorities.
This week, the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon succeeded in carrying out a biometric recording process for more than 200 Indonesian citizens for the process of issuing a Passport Travel Letter (SPLP) in lieu of lost passports, confiscated operators, or expired.
