BMKG Bali Asks Residents To Beware Of Extreme Weather Until December 18

DENPASAR - Center for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BBMKG) Region III Denpasar, Bali, asked the public to be aware of extreme weather on the island of Bali, due to the emergence of tropical cyclone seeds 93S, from December 11 to December 18.

Head of BBMKG Region III Cahyo Nugroho said the BMKG identified significant developments in atmospheric dynamics that have the potential to increase rainfall intensity in most parts of Bali.

"The analysis of the atmospheric dynamics of tropical cyclone seeds of 93S was observed in the Indian Ocean south of NTB, which resulted in a meeting of air masses or confluence and wind turns in Bali Province," said Cahyo, Friday, December 12.

He said the tropical cyclone seeds were also supported by the active equatorial rossby wave and low frequency waves around the weak wind shear system, and vorticity which is in the moderate to medium category.

"Dengan kondisi adanya pertemuan massa udara di sekitar sistem, wilayah Provinsi Bali diprediksi akan mengalami peningkatan vap air, pertumbuhan cloud penyebab hujan, serta peningkatan kecepatan angin dan gelombang tinggi," sebutnya.

He conveyed that the potential for rain-affected areas with moderate and heavy intensity and strong winds has the potential to occur in Denpasar City, Badung Regency, Tabanan, Jembrana, Bangli, Gianyar, Karangasem, Klungkung, and Buleleng.

"These areas have the potential to be affected by floods, flash floods and landslides depending on the level of vulnerability of each region. Then, it is necessary to be aware of the potential for sea wave heights of 1k25 to 2.5 meters for the southern part of the Bali Strait, Badung Strait, southern Lombok Strait, and South Bali waters," he explained.
