Largest Confiscation Of Malaysian Soldiers: Metamphetamine Drugs Worth IDR 44 Billion Belonging To Thai Men
JAKARTA - Malaysian soldiers thwarted a massive drug smuggling attempt of methamphetamine worth more than RM10.9 million or around Rp44 billion in Kedah.
Citing Bernama, Thursday, December 11, the number of drugs seized in the prosecution was the largest based on the operation of the Malaysian army so far this year.
This operation began with the arrest of a Thai about 1.2 kilometers from Camp Sahara by a team from the Fourth Battalion of the Royal Ranger Regiment at 4.30 a.m. Tuesday 9 December.
From the search of the man, it was found a walkie-talkie, a machete, a waist bag, and a flashlight.
Malaysian soldiers then combed the man's travel route at 7 am and found 331 packages containing crystal pieces and powder believed to be methamphetamine.
In their notes, if each package weighs 1 kilogram, it is worth around RM33,000, so the total confiscation reaches RM10,923 million.
Currently, the suspect and all confiscated items are handed over to the Padang Terap district police headquarters for further investigation.
