On The Second Day Of The Search, The SAR Team Finally Found Kevin's Body In The Ciujung Serang River

SERANG - The Joint Search and Rescue (SAR) team managed to find the body of Kevin (9), a boy who was reported to have swept away in the Ciujung River, Ciagel Village, Serang Regency, Banten.

"The second day of search efforts paid off at 07.51 WIB. The team managed to find the victim in a dead condition, about two kilometers from the starting point of the incident," said the Head of the Banten Basarnas Alert and Operations Sub-section, Rizky Dwianto in Serang, Antara, Friday, December 12.

Kevin's body was found at coordinates 6° 8'12.62" S - 106°17'58.73"E. After being found, the body was evacuated and handed over to the family in Ocit Village, Ciagel Village, for burial.

The incident began last Thursday at around 12.00 WIB. At that time the victim was playing in the water with his friends on the riverbank.

He allegedly tried to swim to the middle of the river, but was dragged by the swift current and drowned. The victim's friends then asked local residents for help.

The search for the second day began at 07.00 WIB. The Joint SAR Team divided the personnel into three Search and Rescue Units (SRU) to search the river area.

SRU 1 combed using Basarnas rubber boats as far as 10 kilometers on the right side of the river to the downstream, while SRU 2 carried out similar sweeping using the Brimob rubber boat of the Banten Police. SRU 3 conducted a five-kilometer land sweep along the riverbank.

Rizky said that after the victim was found, the team held a debriefing at 09.00 WIB and the SAR operation was declared complete. All joint elements were then returned to their respective units.
