British Police Ask For Help In Order To Reveal Theft Of 600 Museum Artifacts
JAKARTA - British police requested information from the public after more than 600 artifacts were stolen in a high-value burglary involving a collection of historical museums.
In a statement released on Thursday, December 11, Avon and Somerset Police said four unidentified men broke into buildings at Cumberland Road, Bristol on September 25 in the morning.
The building holds a number of items from the British Empire and Commonwealth collection of the Bristol Museum, an important archive that includes donations reflecting complex scenes in British history.
Reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, the police released CCTV footage from four individuals they wanted to ask for information and said that each one had been described in detail to help the public recognize them.
Detective Konstabel Dan Burgan, the officer leading the investigation, said the loss was a major cultural blow to the city.
These items have significant cultural value and are part of a collection that provides insight into the history of the UK in layers, said Burgan.
"We hope that the community can help us bring the perpetrators to court," he said.
So far, investigators have conducted extensive CCTV reviews, forensic examinations, and are working with the victims.
Police urged anyone who recognized the men in the images released, or saw the stolen items sold online, to immediately contact the police emergency service.
