Malaysia Moves Quickly To Provide Assistance Of IDR 2 Million For Indonesian Students Affected By Disasters
JAKARTA - The Malaysian government will provide assistance each worth RM500 or around Rp2,000,000 to Indonesian students who study in Malaysia, whose families were affected by the disaster in Sumatra.
The office of the Prime Minister of Malaysia declared the assistance a sign of concern and friendship between the two countries.
"Malaysia will distribute aid of RM500 per person as a start, to Indonesian students who are studying in Malaysia and affected by the disaster," wrote a statement from the Malaysian Prime Minister's Office as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, December 11.
Indonesian students in Malaysia whose families affected by the disaster in Sumatra can register through their respective educational institutions so that assistance can be harmonized and distributed as needed.
The office of the Prime Minister of Malaysia expresses his sympathy and condolences to the Indonesian government and all Indonesian people for the disaster that befell Aceh, West Sumatra and North Sumatra.
The Malaysian PM's office stated that relations between Malaysia and Indonesia were more than just neighboring countries, but had close family relations. Malaysia stated that it would continue to have solidarity for Indonesian brothers in difficult times.
