Banjarnegara Regency Government Accelerates Huntara For Pandanarum Landslide Survivors

BANJARNEGARA - The Regency Government (Pemkab) of Banjarnegara, Central Java, has accelerated the construction of temporary shelters (huntara) for landslide survivors in Pandanarum Village to ensure affected residents immediately get a safe place to live during the permanent relocation period.

The Head of the Banjarnegara Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Aji Piluroso, said that the construction of the shelters was being pursued in order to accommodate residents who were categorized as required relocation based on the recommendations of the Geological Agency.

"Until now, there are only four units of progress above 50 percent, while about ten other units are still below 10 percent. Our target is actually 50 units completed by the end of the year," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 11.

He said the need for shelters was actually much greater because the Geological Agency's study showed that 214 families had to be relocated from the Pandanarum landslide hazard zone.

However, he said, the construction of the shelter was carried out in stages while preparing additional land so that it could accommodate all affected residents.

In addition to the relocation prepared by the government, he continued, some residents chose to relocate independently.

"There are around 47 families who independently relocated. The location is about 500 meters from the disaster point and is considered safe," he explained.

According to him, the location of the shelters built by the government is still in the Pandanarum Village area, Pandanarum District, which is about 1.5 kilometers from the landslide center by considering geological security aspects and logistical access.

He said the BPBD recorded that the total number of Pandanarum landslide survivors reached 586 people or 214 families, so that basic daily needs must still be met even though the evacuation camps are better organized. .

The current needs are still urgent, including kitchen utensils and cooking utensils such as electric rice cookers. We continue to coordinate this for fulfillment," he said.

His party will continue to monitor development developments and ensure that the relocation process, both facilitated by the government and independently, runs according to technical recommendations.

"We prioritize the safety of residents. We accelerate the progress of the construction of shelters so that survivors can immediately occupy decent and safe housing," he said.

The landslide disaster that hit Pandanarum Village, Pandanarum District, Banjarnegara, Sunday (16/11) afternoon, was allegedly triggered by very high rainfall that flushed the hilly area for more than a few hours.

Until the last day of the search operation which was held for 10 days, Tuesday (25/11), 17 victims were found dead and 11 others have not been found.
