Detention Of Deputy Mayor Of Bandung Erwin Suspect Of Corruption Waiting For The Approval Of The Minister Of Home Affairs

The Bandung City District Attorney (Kejari) is waiting for the approval of the Minister of Home Affairs before detaining the Deputy Mayor of Bandung Erwin and Bandung City DPRD member Rendiana Awangga who has been named a corruption suspect.

The head of the Bandung City Attorney General's Office, Irfan Wibowo, said that his party needed to submit an official application to the Ministry of Home Affairs in accordance with the provisions of the Regional Government Law before making arrests.

"The two suspects have not been detained considering the consideration that the local government's law needs approval from the Minister of Home Affairs," said Irfan in Bandung, Wednesday, December 10, as reported by ANTARA.

Irfan explained that the determination of the suspect was carried out after investigators raised the status of the case to a special investigation because they had obtained two valid pieces of evidence.

With the fulfillment of these conditions, Erwin and Rendiana Awangga were officially named suspects in corruption crimes related to abuse of authority within the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) in 2025.

According to him, the mode of alleged corruption abuses power by asking for packages of procurement of goods and services as well as work packages that benefit certain parties who are related to them.

He emphasized that the investigation is still growing and does not rule out the possibility of adding new suspects in line with the deepening of evidence and examination of further witnesses.

"The suspects asked for a procurement work package from the OPD, which was then carried out and benefiting affiliated parties," he said.

For their actions, the two suspects were charged with Article 12 letter e of the Anti-Corruption Law jo. Law 20/2001 jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) 1 of the Criminal Code. Subsidies, both of them are also subject to Article 15 jo. Article 12 letter e of the Corruption Act.
