Deputy Mayor Of Bandung Erwin Has Been Named A Corruption Suspect

The Bandung City District Attorney (Kejari) has named Deputy Mayor of Bandung Erwin as a suspect in a case of alleged corruption related to abuse of authority within the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) in 2025.

Head of the Bandung City District Attorney's Office, Irfan Wibowo, said investigators also named a member of the Bandung City DPRD for the 2024 period, Rendiana Awangga, as a suspect in the same case.

"Based on two sufficient pieces of evidence, investigators raised the status of the investigation and named two suspects, namely brother E (Erwin) and brother RA (Rendiana Awangga)," said Irfan at a press conference in Bandung, Wednesday, December 9.

Irfan explained that the two suspects were suspected of abusing power by asking for packages of procurement of goods and services as well as work packages that benefit certain parties who are related to them.

"The person concerned is suspected of abusing power asking for packages of goods and services, a work package that is legally beneficial for affiliated parties," he said.

He emphasized that the investigation is still growing and does not rule out the possibility of adding new suspects in line with the deepening of evidence and examination of further witnesses.

"Investigators will continue to develop this case. Very open opportunities for the involvement of other parties," he said.

Irfan said that the two suspects had not been detained. This is because investigators must follow the provisions of the Regional Government Law which requires the approval of the Minister of Home Affairs before the detention of the regional head or deputy regional head.

"We are still waiting for provisions from the Ministry of Home Affairs as the applicable rules," he said.

The Bandung Kejari ensures that the legal process continues professionally and transparently and also guarantees all stages according to the principle of accountability and legal certainty.
