Grief From Agam: BPBD Reports 188 Death Toll, 72 Still Missing In Big Disaster

LUBUK BASUNG Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Agam Regency, West Sumatra (West Sumatra), reported that the number of victims who died due to hydrometeorological disasters in the area reached 188 people, while 72 people were still missing.

"This data is a condition on Tuesday, December 9 at around 20.00 WIB," said the Head of BPBD Agam, Rahmat Lasmono in Lubuk Basung, Antara, Wednesday, December 10.

He detailed that 14 people died in Malalak District, with three people not found, 10 people died and two people were missing. Meanwhile, in Palupuh and Matur sub-districts, one person each died.

Palembayan District is the area with the worst impact, with 138 people dead and 66 people not found. In addition, in Lubuk Basung District there is still one resident who has not been found.

"A total of 23 victims who died have not been identified by the police," he said.

The search for missing victims will resume on Wednesday (10/12) by a joint team from BPBD Agam, TNI, Polri, Basarnas, PMI, and volunteers. The search was carried out using heavy equipment because many victims were suspected of being buried by flash flood materials in the form of land and trees.

"We hope that the victim can be found in the near future," said Rahmat.

BPBD also noted that 13 people were still undergoing treatment, while 4,117 residents were forced to evacuate and 988 residents were affected by isolation.

The impact of infrastructure damage and public facilities is also quite extensive, covering 493 houses with minor damage, 359 houses moderately damaged, 600 houses heavily damaged, 11 places of worship affected, 67 bridges damaged, and 49 road points damaged.

In addition, there were 99 educational facilities damaged, 125 irrigation units damaged, 18 dams damaged, 6,025 livestock dead, and 1,813.70 hectares of agricultural land affected.
