In Pakistan, Prabowo Affirms Support For Palestine

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto reiterated Indonesia's commitment to supporting the Palestinian struggle, especially regarding the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

The statement was delivered in a joint statement with Pakistan Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad, Pakistan, Tuesday, December 9.

The President said Indonesia was aligning foreign policies to support Palestine.

"We also align our foreign policy, because we have the same attitudes and principles, especially regarding Palestine, regarding Gaza. Our ministers, our foreign ministers, continue to communicate closely, and we will always try, we will always maintain a common stance in this regard," Prabowo said as quoted by ANTARA.

The President stressed that Indonesia will not falter to continue to provide its support for Palestine.

In addition, Indonesia also supports a solution to conflict resolution.

According to Prabowo, through strengthening relations with countries that have a harmonious attitude, Indonesia hopes that diplomatic efforts for Palestine can continue to be expanded and have a real impact on creating sustainable peace.

"Once again, we will not falter in our support for a two-state solution for Palestine. In the future, I feel very optimistic," said the President.

During this meeting, the governments of Indonesia and Pakistan signed seven memorandums of understanding (MoU) for cooperation and cooperation agreements in various fields whose procession was witnessed directly by President Prabowo Subianto and Pakistan Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif.

The signing ceremony and the exchange of cooperation documents were held in a series of official visits by President Prabowo at the official residence of the Prime Minister of Pakistan (PM House) in Islamabad, Tuesday.

The seven MoUs and cooperation agreements include the MoU for higher education cooperation signed by the Indonesian Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Brian Yuliarto and Pakistan's Federal Professional Education and Training Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, then the cooperation in launching the Indonesian Aid Scholarship scholarship assistance signed by the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono and Pakistan Education Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.

The two countries also signed an MoU for trade and certification of halal products, whose cooperation documents were exchanged by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono and Pakistan's Minister of Trade Jam Kamal Khan. Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, while Pakistan ranks second for the world's largest Muslim population.
