Sumatra Floods Make Many Parties Move To Help

JAKARTA The floods that occurred in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra caused many victims of damaged property, lives and infrastructure so that transportation was cut off in several areas. This condition touched many parties to help also PT Asuransi BRI Life.

This BRI subsidiary expressed deep concern over the floods, landslides, which hit. The disaster had a significant impact on the community around the disaster area.

BRI Life in collaboration with Bank BRI as the parent company, is committed to helping ease the burden on residents affected by the disaster, through efforts to build Flood Disaster Management and Evacuation Posts in the Batu Busuak and Lubuk Min areas down in West Sumatra, as well as the BPBD Command Post at the Hinai Police, Tanjung Pura and the BRI Stabat Branch Command Post, North Sumatra.

BRI Life Executive Official Aestika Gunarto stated that the distribution of this assistance was carried out as a form of response to the needs of the community affected by the disaster, which is currently facing limited access and lack of food supplies and daily necessities.

Aestika said, "This step is part of an effort to support emergency handling in affected areas, especially at flood and landslide-prone points. Through the collaboration of BRI Life and Bank BRI in collaboration with local government officials and the community, it is a testament to solidarity in overcoming the impact of disasters together".

BRI Life provides assistance in the form of basic necessities and snacks, vitamins and first aid medicines, toilet needs, as well as special needs for infants and the elderly, which are distributed through posts to communities affected by disasters in the surrounding area. The availability of food supplies is important, considering that most residents still survive in refugee camps due to houses affected by landslides or being flooded.
