Minister Nusron: There Is A Massive Evaluation Of Forest Excise Gardens After The Sumatra Flood
JAKARTA - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid admitted that he had coordinated with the Ministry of Forestry regarding the evaluation of the impact of floods in the areas of Aceh, North Sumatra (North Sumatra) and West Sumatra (West Sumatra).
Nusron said that there would be a massive evaluation of plantation land which used to be the result of the release of forest areas.
"Yesterday I had a meeting, including the Minister of Forestry (King Juli Antoni) who was also evaluating several gardens that used to be the result of the release of forest areas. Most likely with this disaster, there will be a massive evaluation later," Nusron told reporters after the National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the Ministry of ATR/BPN 2025 in Jakarta, Monday, December 8.
According to Nusron, there are extreme decisions that will be taken and will have the potential to cause debate.
"One of the extreme decisions is to return to being a function of forest again and that will also definitely happen in the future. There will be debates that we must face together," he said.

In addition, Nusron also emphasized the need for a revision of the spatial arrangement on the island of Sumatra due to floods that have claimed nearly thousands of lives based on data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) as of December 8, 2025. He said he would return the space that used to be a tree area and infiltration area.
However, when asked further about which areas the land function will return to the forest, Nusron was still reluctant to reveal.
According to the Golkar Party politician, currently there is still a disaster emergency response, especially not all victims have been found.
"It's too early for me to say now. It's not right to say that in an emergency response situation," he added.
