OnePlus Calls China's Political 'Sensor' Issue In AI Features A Technical Bug

JAKARTA - OnePlus finally opened its voice after there were many reports about the AI Writer feature refusing to produce content related to sensitive political topics. The company confirmed that the problem was not a form of political censorship, but an accidental technical bug. Currently, OnePlus disables AI Writer in all applications while conducting investigations.

Controversy emerged after a number of users found AI OnePlus refusing to work when asked to discuss certain terms. Efforts to talk about the Dalai Lama, Taiwan in a neutral context, or mention Arunachal Pradesh as part of India made the system stop suddenly and block outputs. Outside of that topic, the AI feature reportedly runs normally.

The OnePlus software team explained that AI Writer uses a hybrid architecture that combines models belonging to global partners. Allegations lead to third-party models that lead to innate political filtering. OnePlus did not mention the name of the model, although previously DeepSeek had been criticized for similar censorship.

The company says repairs take longer. Therefore, AI Writer is temporarily turned off. It was originally said to be only disabled in the Notes app, but users found the feature also stopped working on WhatsApp, Instagram, Google, Gmail, and OnePlus Community.

OnePlus calls this unexpected AI behavior an accidental thing. The company reiterated its commitment to providing community-oriented technology. Users are now waiting for detailed explanations as well as updates ensuring political neutrality on all OnePlus AI services.
