Indonesia Promotes Wellness And Javanese Culinary Tourism To The American And European Markets

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is encouraging the promotion of wellness tourism and culinary delights typical of Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta to international markets, especially America and Europe.

This effort is packaged through the Familiarization Trip (Famtrip) program with the theme 'Journey of the Five Senses' Laku Rasa.'

The Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, said that the program is not just showing destinations, but also providing a tourism experience that is more touching on the emotional side and health of tourists.

"Through Laku Rasa, we want to offer a journey that provides benefits to the body and mind more than just regular visits. This initiative also supports the #GoBeyondOrdinary campaign to strengthen Indonesia's position in the global market," he said in an official statement in Jakarta.

The famtrip, which takes place from November 25 to December 2, 2025, is designed to highlight the richness of culinary traditions as well as traditional health practices from Solo and Yogyakarta. Both themes are considered as an important part of the tourism development strategy that focuses on the quality of the tourist experience.

Participants of this program are selected travel agents and tour operators from European and American countries. During the program, they enjoyed a series of sensory experiences that included a Javanese sense of taste, aroma, and fitness practice.

Assistant Deputy for Marketing for Foreign Tourism III, Wisnu Sindhutrisno, added that the direct experience is important to build an in-depth understanding of local tourism characters.

"We hope that this activity can encourage the birth of new tour packages that are more creative and on target. The meeting between international and local tourism industry players is also expected to open up opportunities for further cooperation so that MAY Indonesia can continue to be a major player in culinary tourism and global fitness," he explained.
