Studying In The Midst Of Disasters, The Ministry Of Education Allows Local Governments In Aceh, North Sumatra And West Sumatra To Arrange UAS Schedules

JAKARTA Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu'ti, asked local governments in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra to adjust the schedule for the Semester Final Test (UAS) with the conditions of their respective areas after the flood and landslide disaster.

He said the authority to regulate the UAS schedule was left entirely to the local government because the local government was considered to understand the situation of the affected schools.

"The conditions of each region are different, the conditions of the school are also different, so we leave the policy regarding the exam or semester-end test entirely to the regional government's wisdom," said Abdul Mu'ti after opening the Symposium for alignment and revitalization of Vocational Sector for Food Security in Jakarta, Antara, Monday, December 8.

In addition to UAS, he also handed over the authority to regulate teaching and learning activities to local governments in the three provinces affected by the disaster.

In implementing emergency learning, local governments can combine offline and online methods as needed.

The ministry, said Abdul Mu'ti, has prepared school tents as emergency classrooms if school facilities are damaged.

He gave an example of SMA Negeri 1 Batang Anai in Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra, where out of 21 classrooms, 15 of them can still be used.

For such conditions, schools are advised to arrange turns of learning between morning and afternoon sessions.

Sementara untuk sekolah-sekolah yang mengalami kerusakan berat, pemerintah menyiapkan 25 tenda darurat yang akan segera dikirimkan ke daerah terdampak.
