The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Has Said That It Has Made A Study On Corruption In The Environmental Sector
YOGYAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Setyo Budiyanto revealed that his institution through the Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring had made studies related to corruption in the environmental sector.
The study includes data regarding illegal logging practices or illegal logging.
This was conveyed by Setyo when responding to the flash floods and landslides that hit Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, which were said to have been triggered by environmental damage.
"There are, there are prevention. There are (in the Deputy) prevention and monitoring," Setyo told reporters in the Malioboro area, Yogyakarta, Monday, December 8.
Setyo explained that the study was used by the KPK to make efforts to prevent corruption in the environmental sector.
He also opens opportunities to coordinate with law enforcement officers and related ministries/agencies to investigate perpetrators of environmental destruction that cause disasters, such as what happened on the island of Sumatra.
"In the future, we will see, there are law enforcers there too," he said.
"So far, communication has also been carried out, our cooperation with ministries in charge of resource businesses has been running," continued Setyo, who once served as Director of KPK Investigation.
Previously, Deputy Chief of Police, Komjen Dedi Prasetyo, stated that the National Police had formed a team to investigate allegations of illegal logging practices in West Sumatra. The team from Bareskrim will collaborate with the West Sumatra Police to conduct an in-depth investigation and investigation.
"Bareskrim has formed a team, later it will collaborate with the West Sumatra Police," said Dedi while reviewing the Ante Mortem Command Post belonging to the West Sumatra Police at Bhayangkara Hospital, Padang, Thursday, December 4.
Support for this law enforcement step came from various parties, including Member of Commission III of the DPR RI, Nasir Djamil. He stated that he supports the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police to form an investigation team.

According to Nasir, the existence of an investigative team from Bareskrim will complement the Forest Area Control Task Force (PKH) which has been working in the forestry sector. "The PKH Task Force is controlling, while the Criminal Investigation Unit is enforcement," he said.
