2.8 M Earthquake Shakes Bantul DIY Waters On Monday Morning

JAKARTA - An earthquake with a magnitude (M) of 2.8 was recorded to have rocked Bantul waters, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), on Monday, December 8 morning. This shock occurred when most residents were still resting.

Based on data released by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake occurred at 04.01 WIB. The coordinates of the earthquake were at 9.49 degrees south latitude and 109.84 degrees east longitude.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located about 185 kilometers southwest of Bantul, DIY. BMKG also noted that this earthquake had a shallow depth of only 10 kilometers.

Until this news was revealed, there had been no official report regarding the impact of the damage caused by the M 2.8 magnitude earthquake.
