SEA Games Team Badminton Draw 2025: Women's Team Meets Myanmar

JAKARTA The draw determined the Indonesian badminton team against Myanmar in the opening match of Thailand's 2025 SEA Games women's team and the men's team got an empty draw in the first half.

On paper, Indonesia is favored to pass through Myanmar's obstacles. However, a tough challenge awaits in the semifinals because Vietnam or Malaysia will be waiting there.

Meanwhile, defending champions Thailand are in different charts and get a direct advantage to qualify for the semifinals. They are waiting for the winner of the match between Singapore and the Philippines.

In the 2023 SEA Games which took place in Cambodia, the Indonesian women's badminton team had to settle for being runners-up. They failed to go to the top podium after losing 0-3 against Thailand in the final.

In this year's edition, the Indonesian women's team is led by Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma as captain. He stated that he was very optimistic about facing the competition for the women's team.

"It's great to be chosen captain. My friends and I want to show that this women's team team can win a gold medal for Indonesia," said the athlete who is familiarly called Ana through the team's official statement.

From the men's team, Indonesia got the advantage of qualifying for the semifinals. Leo Rolly Carnando and colleagues will wait for the winner of the match between Singapore and Laos.

The Indonesian men's team came as defending champions after winning the Cambodia 2023 SEA Games gold medal after locking up a 3-1 victory over Malaysia in the final match.

Overall at the 2023 SEA Games, Indonesian badminton won five gold, three silver, and three bronze, including gold from the men's team number. However, this year the target for the sport is only two gold.

The 2025 SEA Games badminton match will be held at the Gymnasium 4 Thammasat University Rangsit Campus on December 6'10 for team numbers, and December 11' 14 for individual numbers.
