Communication And Support Are The Key To Post-Disaster Recovery
JAKARTA - In every disaster, we are reminded that life is not only about what is missing, but also about how to strengthen each other. Human warmth, solidarity, and the ability to stay connected are often the greatest sources of strength for those affected.
In many areas, especially remote areas, access to communication is no longer just a convenience, but a basic need to survive and rise.
When flash floods hit a number of areas in Sumatra, this need was felt more real. People who are forced to evacuate face double challenges to meet basic needs and ensure communication continues so that coordination of aid can be carried out quickly and appropriately.
This is where various parties move, including initiatives through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program which distributes logistical assistance while providing emergency internet services based on satellite technology to affected areas. This support is an important bridge so that survivors, volunteers, and local officials can still connect with each other.
Logistical assistance in the form of basic necessities packages is aimed at families who have lost their homes and access to food due to infrastructure damage. Distribution is focused on the most affected posts, and distribution will continue to be expanded as data collection on needs in the field.

On the connectivity side, installing internet access is one of the main focuses. This technology is here as a quick solution to support communication at points that were previously difficult to reach fiber networks. Additional installations have also been prepared and will be carried out in stages after the verification process in the field is complete.
"In disaster management, speed is key. Therefore, we not only bring logistical assistance, but also provide internet access that can be directly used by the field team and residents. Smooth communication allows the distribution of aid to be more targeted," said Wisnu Wardhana as Customer Service Assurance Division FiberStar from his official statement.
This step is not only a quick response to disasters, but also part of a bigger strategy to accelerate digitalization in the 3T region (Disadvantaged, Frontier, Outermost).
"The 3T region faces different infrastructure barriers from urban areas. FiberStar is here to bridge this digital gap by presenting hybrid solutions that combine our terrestrial infrastructure with satellite technology. With Starlink support, connectivity in remote areas can now come much faster without waiting for complex network development," he said.
In many 3T villages, the internet has become the foundation for education, health services, new economic opportunities, to village administration. Therefore, accelerating connectivity in the region has a much wider impact than access to information.
In practice, satellite installation in disaster areas is carried out by adjusting geographical conditions. The fast installation process allows the internet to be directly used by volunteers and local residents. This access helps them contact their families, obtain aid information, and follow the development of regional conditions in real time.
"When internet access comes, people in affected areas no longer feel disconnected from the outside world. They regain a sense of security and the ability to access important information," said the spokesman.
"This is part of FiberStar's mission to ensure that technology is not only enjoyed by the city community, but also as a savior at critical times," he added.
In the future, efforts to expand digital acceleration in the 3T region will continue to be carried out through collaboration with local governments, opening new service points, to digital literacy programs for the community and local business actors.
The simple spirit is to ensure technology becomes a bridge, not a limit and a barrier.
"Aid for this disaster is only one of the small steps from our great efforts. FiberStar will continue to strive to ensure that every Indonesian people, including in the 3T region, have the same opportunity to access the digital world and take advantage of technology to improve their welfare," the spokesperson concluded.
