Pramono Orders Staff To Monitor Dog Trafficking For Consumption
JAKARTA - The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, instructed his staff, especially the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) and related agencies to oversee the implementation of regulations prohibiting the trade of rabies-infectious animals (HPR), such as dogs and cats, for consumption.
"I have asked the ranks of the Satpol PP, related agencies to provide supervision of this matter. We are consistent in implementing it," Pramono said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, December 5.
Pramono has signed Governor Regulation (Pergub) Number 36 of 2025 concerning the Control of Rabies Infectious Animals which regulates the prohibition of animal trafficking, such as dogs and cats, for consumption.
"I signed Governor Regulation Number 36 of 2025 which prohibits consuming animals that can cause rabies, the most important thing is dogs and cats," said Pramono.
In addition to dogs and cats, the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta through Pergub Number 36 of 2025 also prohibits individuals and business entities from trading monkeys, bats, citers, and other similar animals.
Violations of the governor's regulation include administrative sanctions, such as written warnings, confiscation of animals or HPR, closure of business locations, and revocation of business licenses.
The governor's regulation is a follow-up to the meeting with animal enthusiasts at the DKI Jakarta City Hall some time ago. Pramono hopes that the Governor's Regulation can maintain and improve the health of Jakarta residents.
The governor also emphasized the commitment of the DKI Provincial Government to strengthen the welfare of ecosystem residents in the capital city.
Therefore, Pramonomesthikan Jakarta continues to move into a city that is friendly to all citizens, urban animals, and biodiversity that coexists with humans.
