PT Pos Indonesia Ensures Distribution Of Welfare BLT Continues To Run In Disaster-affected Areas

PT Pos Indonesia (Persero) ensures that the distribution of Direct Cash Assistance for People's Welfare (BLT Kesra) continues to run in a number of areas affected by flash floods and landslides on the island of Sumatra.

Acting (Plt) President Director of PT Pos Indonesia Haris explained that until Monday, December 1, branch office operations in Langsa, Aceh, and Sibolga, North Sumatra, had not fully recovered due to disasters.

"So we also have affected posts, some of our offices. Last Monday's position was in the Langsa area with Sibolga, yes, what we Pos can't be fully active yet. But now thank God it has started and we have started paying (BLT)," he told the media crew at the Premier Rawamangun Post Office, Thursday, December 4.

Haris revealed that his party had considered distributing direct aid to disaster sites or in refugee areas. However, the plan was canceled because it was feared that it could potentially cause jealousy or social tension.

"We received the data mandate, yes. We know that later in this evacuation, it will not only be (there are) people who have the right to receive (BLT only). Many of our other people (who do not receive) too. So, I'm afraid we don't get it," he explained.

He emphasized that PT Pos Indonesia continues to coordinate with local governments so that the distribution of BLT is right on target according to the list of recipients that have been set.

"So, because of that, we are coordinating with local governments, so that we can distribute the rest that we have not distributed, so that it is in accordance with what is stated in our orders," he explained.

According to Haris, the Sibolga Branch Post Office has an allocation for 5,537 recipients. However, because it did not operate on December 1, only about 1,200 people have received BLT.

"So there are still around 3000 left. So it's still 20 percent for Sibolga," he said.

Meanwhile, the Langsa Branch Post Office has an allocation of 42,000 recipients and until December 1, assistance has been distributed to 10,565 recipients, or around 24.59 percent.

Haris added that the number of recipients has the potential to change due to missing or dead victims. However, the determination of the recipient still refers to the Beneficiary Family which is recorded in one family card.

"So if for example there was a father in one family, there was a mother, there was a child. For example, these 4 people, for example, 2, these 4 people have the right to receive. So yes, we hope that there will still be (who can receive) that way," he explained.

To overcome document constraints, Haris said he would continue to discuss with local governments, including the possibility of issuing a replacement certificate for affected residents who lost documents.

"This is a citizen. So that's why we continue to coordinate with local governments. Later there may be recipients who oh I have lost my ID card and so on. Later we will coordinate with the local government," he said.
