Timothee Chalamet Selected To Play Willy Wonka's New Film
JAKARTA - Actor Timothee Chalamet is cast as Wonka in a new film produced by Warner Bros.
Chalamet will play Willy Wonka, a character created by Roald Dahl. The story focuses on Wonka's youth when he started a famous chocolate factory business.
Reportedly, Chalamet will show his dancing and singing skills in accordance with the concept of musicals in this film.
This is the third time Warner Bros. has produced a story about Wonka adapted from Dahl's novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The novel follows a boy named Charlie Bucket who wins a ticket to enter a famous chocolate factory.
The first film was made in 1971, followed by the 2005 film in which willy wonka was portrayed by Johnny Depp. Unlike the previous two films, Wonka is a prequel film so the character Charlie and his friends are certainly not present.
The film will be written and directed by Paul King and Simon Farnaby. Previously, he directed the film Paddington.
Outside of Wonka, Timothee Chalamet also has several other new projects. These include Dune, The French Dispatch, and Don't Look Up.
