BNPB Optimizes Repair Of West Sumatra Land Access Post-Disaster Access
PADANG - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) together with local governments in the districts and cities of West Sumatra Province (West Sumatra) are currently optimizing land access improvements affected by floods and landslides to maximize the distribution of aid to the community.
"A number of road points and bridges were affected by floods and landslides. This condition hampered emergency handling, especially the distribution of aid to the community. BNPB and local governments optimized the deployment of heavy equipment," said Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari in a written statement in Padang, Antara, Thursday, December 4.
Abdul Muhari said the repair of land access was carried out both on district and city roads, provincial roads and national roads. In more detail, the damage to district and city roads was recorded at 321 points, 172 provincial roads and national roads at 62 points.
For handling damage to national roads, he said, it had been carried out by deploying 25 units of heavy equipment spread across several points, namely in Solok Regency, Agam Regency and Tanah Datar Regency.
He explained that the repair on national roads was carried out by the National Road Implementation Center of the Ministry of Public Works, while the Department of Highways, Cipta Karya and Spatial Planning of West Sumatra carried out handling on provincial roads.
In repairing land access, not only on road repairs, but also on repairing access with the bailey emergency bridge.
"There are 22 units of emergency bridges needed, such as in Agam, Pasaman, West Pasaman, Pariaman City, Padang Pariaman, Solok, Padang City and Tanah Datar," he explained.
Recent developments as of Wednesday (3/12), he conveyed that personnel and heavy equipment were cleaning landslide material at a number of points in West Pasaman, Agam, Padang Pariaman, Solok and Pasaman Regencies.

In addition to cleaning landslide materials, river normalization is also carried out in Pesisir Selatan Regency. This includes cleaning up mud, stone and wood materials in Jorong Tantaman, Nagari Tigo Koto Silungkang, Palembayan District, Agam Regency.
He hopes that with the improvement of national and provincial roads, the distribution of food and non-food assistance can run more effectively.
