The Ministry Of Industry Calls Industrial Estates In Aceh, North Sumatra And West Sumatra Not Natural Damage It Means Flood Impact

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry stated that industrial areas in Aceh, North Sumatra (North Sumatra) and West Sumatra (West Sumatra) generally do not experience significant damage. In fact, it can still operate.

However, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said that the problem was experienced by several factories outside the industrial area. This is due to access problems and utility disruptions, especially water and electricity supplies.

"The government is committed to accelerating the recovery of utilities and access so that community and industrial activities can return to normal," Agus said, quoting a written statement, Thursday, December 4.

The Ministry of Industry is also working with the TNI to support the distribution of aid. This is by preparing a transport plane for the three affected areas.

The Minister of Industry also released aid on Wednesday, December 3. The assistance is a form of government concern and solidarity with people who are facing emergency conditions.

The assistance sent consisted of basic needs, such as basic food packages, drinking water, suitable clothes, cleaning equipment and other logistical support.

In addition to aid for goods, the Ministry of Industry also distributed cash assistance compiled from officials and employees as a form of internal mutual cooperation.

The collection of internal donations has reached one cargo truck for goods and cash funds which will be distributed through the Ministry of Industry's work unit in the regions to support public kitchen operations and other urgent needs.

"We understand that the disasters that occurred in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra have a large enough scale, so that people in affected areas certainly need help from various parties. Today, we sent some assistance first as an initial stage and we will propose the next delivery," said Agus.

Agus also expressed his appreciation to industry players who also provide support, both in the form of goods and cash funds.

"Many assistance from manufacturing companies has been distributed, both through the Ministry of Industry and other institutions. The most important thing is the call for concern to help our affected brothers and sisters," he said.

One of the assistance sent is the Rural Multipurpose Mechanical Tool (Ammdes) for water distillation, a multifunctional vehicle based on national manufacturing technology that can provide clean water.

"AMMDes water distillation is very relevant to the needs of the affected areas, considering that the issue of clean water is a major obstacle. Today, one unit was sent and we are coordinating with producers to accelerate the addition of the next unit," explained Agus.

Meanwhile, cash assistance collected will be used by work units in the regions to strengthen public kitchen operations and meet the daily needs of the affected communities quickly.

"We hope that the collaboration between the government, industry players and various parties can accelerate recovery and have a real impact on people in disaster-affected areas," he added.
