Firman Soebagyo Says There Is An Opportunity To Form An Illegal Logging Committee: If There Is No Solution, We Will Increase It To The Special Committee
JAKARTA - Member of Commission IV of the House of Representatives Firman Soebagyo, said that the issue of flash floods and landslides in Aceh-Sumatra could open up opportunities for the formation of a working committee (Panja) related to illegal logging or illegal logging.
This was said by Firman in response to the large number of logs carried by flash floods in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.
Firman said that Thursday, December 4 tomorrow, Commission IV of the DPR will hold a meeting with the Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni to ask for an explanation regarding the existence of logs carried by the flood.
"Yes, God willing, tomorrow we will invite a meeting with the Minister of Forestry, of course we will explore it. If necessary, we will form a Panja, is the Special Committee, to investigate the entire forestry policy?" Firman said at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, December 3.
If the Panja does not provide a solution related to illegal logging problems, then the status of the committee can be raised to a special committee by involving a number of commissions in the DPR.
"Yes, maybe, while we will climb it first. But if the Panja later can't find a solution, maybe we will increase it (to the special committee)," said Firman.
