The Ministry Of Public Works Notes 14 Bridges In Aceh Putus Impact Of Floods And Landslides

The Ministry of Public Works (PU) noted that 14 bridges were broken due to floods and landslides that hit the area last week.

The breakdown of a number of bridges caused land access at several points to be completely paralyzed and hampered logistics distribution and emergency services.

"Once the bridge is cut off, the mobility of aid, public services and economic activity will be hampered," said PU Minister Dody Hanggodo in an official statement, Tuesday, December 2.

Data from field inspections until December 1, 2025 showed that the damage to the bridge occurred due to high river water discharge and oprete damage. The structure of several bridges was also swept away by the current.

This condition was reported by the Aceh National Road Implementation Center (BPJN) of the Directorate General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works after conducting a direct inspection at the affected location.

Some of the bridges that were damaged include Weihni Rongka Bridge; Krueng Beutong, Krueng Meureudu; Teupin Mane; Kuta Blang; Ujung leave; Lawe Penanggalan, Timang Gajah; Jerata, Pelang, Titi Merah and three other locations are still in the process of verifying the field team.

Dody said that one of the bridges severely affected was the Krueng Tingkeum Bridge on the East Aceh Cross Road which is part of the national road network and the main inter-regional route.

Several national roads were also cut off, such as the Banda Aceh 'Lhokseumawe' Langsa' Aceh Tamiang section, Subulussalam'Tapaktuan and the Bireuen 'Takegon route.

To support emergency handling, the Ministry of Public Works has deployed 310 joint personnel from the fields of Water Resources, Highways and Cipta Karya. They support the operation to handle BNPB while accelerating the opening of vital access.

"We ensure that equipment support from technical halls can be moved whenever necessary, including to open access and assist the evacuation process," he said.

He added that a number of emergency measures had been taken, such as the installation of a bailey bridge at priority points, strengthening of bridge oprit, installing gabions, protection of cliffs and deployment of heavy equipment to open lanes buried by landslides.

River normalization and large material cleaning are also carried out to prevent further damage.

"Con connectivity is the lifeblood of the community. Therefore, the Ministry of Public Works mobilizes all technical resources to accelerate handling in Aceh," he added.
