Airlangga Encourages Universities Graduate Internship Program To Strengthen Digital Talents

JAKARTA - The government continues to be committed to strengthening human resource development and increasing the creation of national jobs, one of which is through the Higher Education Graduates Handling Program, which has now been implemented up to Batch 2.

In order to monitor the implementation of the University Graduates Handling Program, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto visited PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk in Jakarta, Tuesday, December 2.

Airlangga expressed his appreciation for the commitment of PT Telkom Indonesia which continues to support the Government's strategic programs including the apprenticeship program for university graduates so that it can facilitate young Indonesian talents who have just graduated to be able to transition and adapt to the world of work.

To the brothers and sisters, during this internship we hope for high initiatives. Continue to be enthusiastic. And the most important thing is to build networking. Networking is capital. Then of course you have to maintain the good name of the alma mater and yourself. To the leaders and mentors, provide the best opportunities and guidance so that they can improve soft skills, and involve internship participants in real and impact projects," he said in his statement, Tuesday, December 2.

Airlangga conveyed that the college graduates' internship program is here to bridge so that fresh graduate college graduates have relevant skills and work experience before they enter the full work market.

In addition, he conveyed that this program can also be a strategic investment for companies in talent development, and can be the company's initial selection in recruiting workers in the future.

Furthermore, Airlangga also highlighted the increasing need for digital talent in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) field in Indonesia.

He conveyed that in order to achieve the 8 percent economic growth target, the digital sector is one of the sectors that has the potential for exponential growth.

In addition, Airlangga said that the Government is also preparing a Digital Economic Framework Agreement with ASEAN, with the target of making ASEAN a digital economy power of US$2 trillion by 2030.

In the midst of these opportunities, Airlangga encourages the younger generation to be able to fill the needs of domestic digital talents.

The AI sector requires a lot of labor. AI for Indonesia has great potential in various sectors. First of course the infrastructure itself, our data center needs it. Then the second one will be in the sector itself. Is it health, whether it's in Industry 4.0 and also in the creative and innovative industry. Now this also requires energy. So I asked Telkom to pursue this. Because of this AI we need data. There is no AI without data. And the collection data is an intense laboratory," said Airlangga.
