President Trump Warns Israel Not To Intervene In Syria

JAKARTA - United States President Donald Trump on Monday warned Israel not to interfere with Syria's new leadership and stability, days after a deadly operation by Israeli forces in the country's southern region.

"It is very important for Israel to maintain a strong and honest dialogue with Syria, and nothing will happen that will disrupt Syria's evolution into a prosperous country," President Trump warned on the Truth Social platform, reported by Al Arabiya and AFP (2/12).

President Trump said he was "very satisfied" with Syria's performance under President Ahmed al-Sharaa, who made a historic visit to the White House last month.

He said President al-Sharaa "works diligently to ensure good things happen, and that Syria and Israel will have a long and prosperous relationship together."

He added that the United States "is doing everything in our power to ensure the Syrian government continues to do what it intends" to rebuild the war-torn country.

President Trump believes good relations between Syria and Israel will strengthen his efforts for broader Middle East peace after the fragile Gaza ceasefire in October.

President Trump has pushed for a security pact between Israel and Syria since the al-Sharaa coalition toppled the old ruler Bashar al-Assad a year ago.

However, tensions have escalated after hundreds of Israeli attacks on Syria. In the deadliest operation so far, Israeli forces killed 13 people on Friday in operations in southern Syria, saying they were targeting a militant group.

Shortly after President Trump's post on social media, Benjamin Netanyahu's Office said the Israeli prime minister had made a phone call with the US president.
