Uus Kuswanto Called Will Be Inaugurated As Secretary Of DKI Jakarta To Replace Marullah Matali

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung will inaugurate the new Regional Secretary (Sekda) of DKI Jakarta today. Reportedly, the DKI Regional Secretary appointed by Pramono is the Mayor of West Jakarta Uus Kuswanto. The appointment of Uus to become the Regional Secretary of DKI Jakarta was agreed by Deputy Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Rani Mauliani.

"According to the news circulating like that, but I don't know the firm yet, we'll just have to wait this afternoon for the inauguration," Rani said in a short message, Monday, December 1.

After officially serving as Regional Secretary, Rani hopes that Uus as the highest civil servant official in Jakarta can work optimally to help the Governors of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung-Rano Karno in managing regional governments.

"Hopefully even if it is Pak Uus, he can continue the delegation in the future even better in his performance to accompany the Governor and Deputy Governor," said Rani.

The appointment of Uus to be the Regional Secretary of DKI was also confirmed by Member of Commission A of the DKI DPRD Kevin Wu. Since this morning, members of the legislature have received information that Uus will be appointed as DKI Regional Secretary.

"That's right, that's the information we received," said Kevin.

That way, Uus will replace Marullah Matali whose term of office ends because he retired as of November 27, 2025. Marullah has served as Regional Secretary since November 8, 2024. Previously, Marullah had also served as Regional Secretary for the period from January 18, 2021 to December 2, 2022.

For the record, Uus is a career bureaucrat who has been in the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government from the start. This graduate of the 1995 State Institute of Administration (IPDN) started his position as Village Head of Rawa Village, Johar Baru District, Central Jakarta from 2005 to 2007.

Uus' position increased as the year progressed from the kelurahan, sub-district, service tribe, to being the Mayor of West Jakarta in 2020-2021. Then, Uus served as Assistant for People's Welfare (Kesra) of the DKI Jakarta Regional Secretariat in 2021-2023. Uus also served as Acting (Pj) Regional Secretary of DKI Jakarta Province on December 3, 2022 February 15, 2023, until the Mayor of West Jakarta Administration returned from March 21, 2023 to today.
