Aceh Disaster: 14 Broken Bridges, 12 Paralyzed National Roads

ACEH's BANDA - A total of 14 bridges and 12 national road points were cut off due to floods and landslides in a number of areas in Aceh Province that occurred this week. Two of the bridges were cut off on the central track, 11 in the middle route, and one in the west side of Aceh.

"There are 14 bridges that have been cut off," said Head of the National Road Implementation Center (BPJN) Representative of Aceh Heri Yugiantoro, quoted from Antara, Sunday, November 30.

Heri said that for emergency handling of broken bridges, if viewed from the level of damage, there are two types.

First, stockpiling of short roads that are cut off by boulders, sandbags, and piled materials.

Second, use a bailey-type emergency bridge and carry out strengthening next to the ash.

Then, continued Hari, for the cut off roads, there were 12 landslide points spread across several locations across the east, middle and west of Aceh.

The temporary handling steps taken are providing emergency signs, placing PPK officers, mobilizing heavy equipment, strengthening slopes and widening roads.

BPJN made efforts to clean up mud and debris material from the body and shoulders of the road in areas where the flood had receded.

"Then, we clean and re-escalate the drainage channels, drain water as soon as possible into the sewers and inventory the damage to new roads or holes," he said.

Heri added that the estimated or estimated losses from the damage to bridges and national roads due to the disaster could not be known, because detailed calculations had to be carried out first.

"We haven't even calculated the volume and cost of handling it. We have to be careful so that we don't get too far away from planning and realization," said Heri.
