Chelsea Employees Claim To Cheat A Club Of IDR 4.4 Billion

JAKARTA - A Chelsea employee has admitted to abusing his post to deceive the club for more than 200,000 pounds (approximately IDR 4.4 billion).

Claire Walsh, 39, pleaded guilty at the Westminster promises Court on Friday, November 28, 2025, local time, on charges of fraud by abusing positions between June 8, 2019, and October 23, 2023.

Walsh, who works as an assistant financial manager at Chelsea, admitted to dishonestly abusing his post to earn 208,521.65 pounds for himself.

When asked what defense he would file for, Walsh, from Elm Park Gardens, said "wrong".

"You have been charged with a criminal act of fraud worth more than 200,000 pounds against Chelsea Football Club."

"You have pleaded guilty to the crime and have exceeded our authority in terms of imposing a sentence."

"You have to be sent to the crown court to be sentenced, where they have the appropriate authority," Judge Kieran O'Donnell told Walsh during the trial, ESPN reported.

A court clerk told Walsh he was accused of fraud because while occupying the post of Chelsea's financial assistant manager - where it is hoped to protect or not act against Chelsea's financial interests - he dishonestly abused the position with the intention of making a profit, which was to earn 208,521.65 pounds for himself.

Walsh, who was released on unconditional bail, will be sentenced to the Crown Court Isleworth in the future.
