Clean Water Assistance Flows For Flood Victims In Pidie Jaya, Aceh
PIDIE JAYA - Ministry of Public Works (PU) through the Aceh Building, Infrastructure and Area Planning Center (BPBPK) has begun to flow clean water assistance to flood victims in Pidie Jaya Regency, Aceh, Saturday.
"We brought all the clean equipment and water from Banda Aceh to Pidie Jaya and today it has flowed to residents at the disaster site," said Aceh BPBPK Emergency Response Commitment Making Officer Ismadi to ANTARA in Pidie Jaya.
Ismadi explained that clean water assistance was brought from Banda Aceh using six tankers with a capacity of 4,000 liters. For distribution to residents using 10 water reservoirs with a capacity of 2,000 liters.
"To determine the location of the placement of 10 water reservoirs, we are coordinating with local governments," he said.

He said that for further water filling, the BPBPK team had obtained a drinking water source in Pidie Jaya. The team then distributed clean water assistance to Pidie Regency.
"So far, we have only been able to reach two regions, namely Pidie Jaya and Pidie, because access to transportation and communication to other disaster areas is still hampered," he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Regent of Pidie Jaya Hasan Basri is very grateful for the help of clean water. Residents who were victims of the Pidie Jaya flood really needed clean water because the residents' water wells were full of mud.
"Hopefully assistance from other agencies and institutions can come soon because our condition is very critical," he said.
Hasan Basri said the flash flood that occurred on November 25 had resulted in about 60 percent of the 220 villages destroyed in Pidie Jaya. He hopes that the central government and the Aceh government will immediately help because the Pidie Jaya Regency Government are already overwhelmed by this disaster.
"His condition is very critical and we can't afford this burden," he said.
Based on data from BPBD Pidie Jaya on Friday (28/11), the number of residents affected by the hydrometerological disaster reached 90,000 people and the number of refugees was around 12,000 people.
