Pertamina Maintains Energy Supply To Provide Assistance In Areas Affected By Sumatra Floods

PT Pertamina (Persero) together with all subholding and subsidiaries are trying to maintain the supply of fuel and LPG to flood-affected areas in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional North Sumatra (Sumbagut) is also trying to make optimally available fuel and LPG supplies to affected areas through various modes of transportation.

Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero) Muhammad Baron said that his party expressed deep concern over the disaster that occurred. Pertamina Group focuses on seeking all steps to provide and distribute energy supply, so that fuel and LPG can reach the community.

"All subholdings and subsidiaries also help each other to support the arrival of energy to the community, as well as assistance and support for affected communities. This realizes Pertamina's commitment to serving the community wholeheartedly," said Baron in a written statement, quoted on Saturday, November 29.

Baron explained that Pertamina's facilities and facilities in the affected areas were in good condition. A number of affected workers have also received support from Pertamina and most of them are still in charge of serving the needs of the community.

In terms of distribution, fuel carriers face bad weather challenges and high waves. In the last few days, the conditions of high waves and strong winds in the Single Point Mooring (SPM) Belawan area have made it difficult for the ship's docking process. But currently, two fuel carriers have succeeded in loading and unloading fuel.

Pertamina has also dispatched Bell 412 EP type helicopters with PK-PUJ code belonging to PT Pelita Air Service for fuel transport and other assistance. The helicopter departs from Pondok Cabe Airport, Tangerang, to Kualanamu International Airport Medan.

In addition to delivering energy, Pelita Air is also preparing its fleet to carry out Emergency Aviation Missions in Sumatra, with the aim of especially Rantau, Lhokseumawe, Pangkalan Susu and its surroundings.

Meanwhile, a subsidiary, PT Elnusa Petrofin, plays a role in the distribution fleet through fuel tankers and ensures that the energy distribution runs optimally. Elnusa Petrofin has dispatched a tank car fleet to deliver fuel to various locations despite the challenges of the road terrain.

Elnusa Petrofin also ensured that the operations of the Gunung Sitoli Elpiji Bulk Filling and Transport Station (SPPBE) and the Sibolga Aircraft Filling Depot (DPPU) were in a safe condition.

"We are coordinating with various parties so that tank cars can distribute fuel safely and continue to prioritize the security aspect," he said.

As a form of mitigation, Pertamina has transferred the supply (RAE) of Pertalite and Biosolar from IT Lhokseumawe, FT Siantar and IT Dumai. A priority distribution scheme is also implemented to maintain availability at gas stations that enter the critical stock category.

In addition, the distribution of alternative products such as Pertamax and Pertamina Dex is also maximized to support the energy needs of the community during the supply recovery process.

It didn't stop there, Pertamina also deployed a Pertamina Peduli team, namely volunteers from Pertamina Workers Officers to help people affected by flash floods and landslides. Pertamina's assistance is given as a quick response in disaster management and provides full-hearted service to the community.

A number of aids were handed over by Pertamina Peduli, namely in the form of 600 boxes of instant noodles, 50 sacks of 10 kg of rice and 120 boxes of mineral water, which were prepared to support the urgent needs of the affected communities at disaster points.

A number of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi officers also assisted in providing assistance in the form of instant noodles, mineral water, biscuits, toddler milk, adult diapers, baby diapers, blankets and towels.

In addition to assistance, a subsidiary of PT Pertamina Bina Medika IHC, which is the manager of a number of state-owned hospitals, has opened an area of Pertamina Pangkalan Brandan Hospital in Langkat Regency and Pertamina Rantau Hospital in Aceh Tamiang Regency as a location for displaced communities.

Pertamina Hospital also continues to operate to serve public health needs, although it is also affected by flooding.

"As Pertamina is concerned, this assistance is the first step to be able to ease and meet the basic needs of the community during the emergency response period," he explained.

Pertamina continues to coordinate with the Provincial Government of North Sumatra, BPBD and relevant stakeholders to map priority needs in the field. Further support can be re-prepared and distributed according to the development of field conditions.
