The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has normalized and cleaned up a 250-meter-long sewer in Pusantang Baro Village, Merbo Lama Village, and Merbo Jurong Village, Baktiya District, North Aceh Regency, to deal with flooding in Aceh.

The Sumatra River Basin Center (BWS) I of the Directorate General of Water Resources, Ministry of Public Works, also opened the tidal gate to accelerate water flow.

In addition, monitoring of dam infrastructure and dams is carried out to ensure they are in a safe condition.

PU Minister Dody Hanggodo said that quick steps have been taken since reports of floods and landslides were received

"We ensure that all technical ranks move quickly. Our priority is to maintain connectivity, secure affected locations and ensure the safety of residents," said Dody in a written statement, Friday, November 28.

The Emergency Response Team in the field helped the process of evacuating residents to the evacuation posts and Puskesmas.

The Sumatra I BWS Disaster Task Force (Satgas) Command continues to carry out intensive monitoring every day and coordinates with the local BPBD regarding further handling.

The Ministry of Public Works ensures that flood management efforts will continue to be strengthened by preparing follow-up steps in the form of adding heavy equipment, normalizing rivers and channels, monitoring water resource infrastructure and continuing the evacuation of affected residents to safer locations.

Support for handling floods and landslides in Aceh Province was also carried out by the Aceh National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN) by mobilizing 31 heavy equipment that had been in a number of locations affected by the disaster.

The handling of BPJN Aceh is focused on cleaning avalanche materials, normalizing drainage channels, handling vulnerable points and ensuring smooth traffic flow.

The Ministry of Public Works will continue to monitor conditions in the field and improve coordination with the Aceh Government, BPBD, BNPB and all relevant agencies to ensure emergency handling runs quickly, effectively and according to community needs.
