1,917 Cases In 11 Months: The Number Of Violence Against Women In DKI Soars

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Department of Empowerment, Child Protection and Population Control (PPAPP) recorded reports of cases of violence against women and children in Jakarta in 2025 increasing by 10 percent from 2024.

"More or less, until this month (November 2025), there are 1,917 cases. The trend is up 10 percent from 2024," said Head of the DKI Jakarta PPAPP Office Iin Mutmainnah when confirmed, quoted by Antara Jakarta, Friday, November 28.

According to him, the high number of reports of cases of violence proves that many victims dare to report the crime.

"Regarding the increase in violence, it is one proof that the public has started to dare to speak up. This means, from the complaint data, we will serve those from public complaints," said Iin.

Responding to the issue, he said, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) carried out risk mitigation by drafting a revision of Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 8 of 2011 concerning the Protection of Women and Children from Violence.

The regional regulation will be revised into two regional regulations in 2026, namely the Regional Regulation on the Protection of Women and Regional Regulations for the Implementation of Child-Friendly Cities and Regencies.

"This will later be included in the substance of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence (TPKS). In Regional Regulation Number 8 of 2011 there is no TPKS. So in 2026, we will discuss to include the substance in this TPKS Law," said Iin.

Based on data from the DKI PPAPP Office, of the 1,917 reported cases, the most dominant cases were sexual violence against children with 588 cases or 21.9 percent and women who were victims of domestic violence (KDRT) with 412 cases or 15.4 percent.

Then, followed by cases of women becoming victims of 318 psychological violence or 11.9 percent and women being victims of physical violence as many as 276 cases or 10.3 percent.

The location of violence against women and children mostly occurred in the house with 1,132 cases or 56.3 percent and on the road with 135 cases or 6.7 percent.

Then, in boarding houses 126 cases or 6.3 percent, in schools 119 cases or 5.9 percent, in contracts 88 cases or 4.4 percent, and in hotels 86 cases or 4.3 percent.

For the reported category, the perpetrators of violence against women and children, the majority are husbands with 503 cases or around 22.3 percent, friends with 351 people or 15.7 percent, and unknown people 281 cases or 12.6 percent.

Then, violence was also carried out by neighbors as many as 203 cases or 9.1 percent, biological fathers as many as 197 cases with 8.8 percent, and girlfriends with 147 cases or about 6.6 percent.

Meanwhile, the highest number of victims of violence against children and women based on the victim's city or ID card, namely in East Jakarta with 513 victims, South Jakarta with 337 victims, and West Jakarta with 316 victims.
