Government Controls Weather To Suppress The Impact Of West Sumatra's Aceh Floods And Longsor
JAKARTA - The government has begun to control rainfall through weather modification operations to suppress the impact of the Large Floods in Aceh and North Sumatra as well as landslides in West Sumatra. Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno emphasized that this step was taken after the BMKG reported that the Senyar tropical cyclone had begun to weaken, so that the weather modification aircraft could be flown to move rain from land to sea.
Pratikno explained that this weather operation was part of a series of emergency responses that had been running since the first day of the disaster. The President ordered the BNPB, TNI, Polri, and local governments to move quickly to send evacuation tents, food, and other basic needs.
Coordination is carried out with relevant ministries, three governors, and regents' mayors to ensure the latest needs in the field. The assistance sent today is called the most urgent: communication tools, rubber boats, and generators to support evacuation efficiency.

All efforts are made on the orders of the President so that the affected people are immediately handled," Pratikno told reporters at Halim Perdanakusuma Jakarta, Friday, November 28.
He added that vigilance remains high against the potential for Koko' cyclones in northern Indonesia. The government asks for public and media support to ensure the latest information regarding Longsor floods in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra as well as the acceleration of Prabowo's assistance in Sumatra.
